Arthur Thompson - Founder
Art, a former potato farmer, entered the field of estate planning in 1962 and has over 50 years of experience providing first-class estate planning, charitable giving, business succession planning, insurance, and investment services to our 5,000+ clients. Art has received recognition numerous times for his outstanding performance in meeting clients' needs. He has also served and led many boards and non-profits. Most recently, he served on the MSSM (The Maine School of Science and Mathematics) foundation board and was instrumental in raising funds for the now “Art and Fritzie Thompson Greenhouse.” Art and his wife Fritzie were surprised to learn the greenhouse was named in their honor at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. As a very active member of his church and community, he and Fritzie have given back countless hours of their time to the citizens of Limestone, Aroostook County, and beyond. They’ve been married for over 60 years and are the proud parents of their children Barbie, Nancy, and Jay and their four grandchildren, Lindsey, Kylie, Justin, and Brandon. Art’s life focuses around his family. He also enjoys running, which included one Boston marathon and countless road races throughout Maine, including 37 consecutive Fort Fairfield Potato Blossom Festival Road Races, fishing, farming, camping, hiking, cross country skiing, activities at the Limestone United Methodist Church, and community service. Art can be reached at [email protected]
Bryan Thompson* - Chief Executive Officer
Bryan is the firm's Owner and Chief Executive Officer and has been providing his clients with valued financial services since 2012. He is a Series 65 Investment Advisor Representative, Series 6 Registered Securities Representative, and a licensed Life and Health Insurance Producer. Prior to joining Thompson Financial Group, Bryan served in various management capacities at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service Center in Limestone for 10 years. Bryan graduated with dual bachelor’s degrees in Accounting, and Business Management and Information Systems from the University of Maine at Presque Isle in 2003. He earned his Masters of Business Administration degree from Husson University in 2011. Bryan and his wife Melissa reside in Caribou with their three children, Sydney, Landon, and Reed. When Bryan isn’t visiting Sydney at Liberty University or playing tennis with Landon, or in the ER with Reed (he thought he could ride his black lab and broke his arm), you might find him working on the 110-year-old home he and his wife restored together. Don’t worry, he doesn’t have any plans to quit his day job to become a Rehab Addict or full-time babysitter. Amidst the chaos, Bryan finds solitude during the early hours of the morning at his home in Caribou by reading his devotions and sipping on Tim Horton’s coffee. Bryan can be reached at [email protected]
Ben Shaw* - Chief Operating Officer
Prior to joining Thompson Financial Group, Ben served as the Chief Business Officer at the University of Maine at Presque Isle (his alma mater) for 5 years. Prior to that Ben had a variety of management positions at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service Center in Limestone for 12 years, including serving as the Deputy Site Director. Ben graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Maine at Presque Isle in 2004.He earned his Masters of Science in Business from Husson University in 2009. In 2015, Ben became a Certified Management Accountant (CMA). Ben and his wife Sasha reside in Mapleton with their two boys, Reed and Grant. Ben’s goal in life is to be the best husband and dad he can be. He loves spending time outside (both in the summer and the winter) with his entire family, going on adventures on their 8 acres of land, or spending time at the family camp at East Grand Lake. If he isn’t taking the boys for multiple ATV or snowmobile rides around the property, the whole family is going for walks looking for deer. Ben also enjoys building and plans to build a small cabin on the back part of their property for the family (especially Reed!) to enjoy. The fun doesn’t stop there, in April, Ben and Sasha are planning to introduce their third son to the world, Myles Robert Shaw.
Brian Hamel* - Financial Advisor
Brian has served many roles with the agency, from former owner to his current role as Investment Advisor Representative, always providing his clients with valued financial services since 2005. He is a Series 65 Investment Advisor Representative, Series 7 Registered Securities Representative, and a licensed Life and Health Insurance producer. Prior to Brian’s tenure with Thompson Financial Group, he began his career by earning his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license while working for one of the world’s largest international accounting firms in Boston, followed by years of corporate finance positions for a manufacturing conglomerate at its corporate headquarters in Portsmouth, NH, and concluding with 13 years of military base closure redevelopment experience in New Hampshire and Maine most recently as the President and CEO of the Loring Development Authority in Limestone, Maine from its inception in 1994 through 2005. Brian currently serves on the Board of Directors of Bangor-based Versant Power and also on the Board of Directors of the system wide Northern Light Foundation located in Bangor. Brian and his wife of 40 years, Gail, love being grandparents to their six grandchildren Bella, Annabelle, Owen, Crosby, Oliver and Emma, who fondly refer to them as Papi (that would be “Little Papi” and not the famed “Big Papi” from the Boston Red Sox) and GG (short for “Grammie Gail”). Although their grandchildren seem to get much of their current attention, they equally enjoy spending time with their three grown daughters Natalie, Abby, and Molly, and their husbands, especially when they all get together for their annual family camping trip at Hermit Island on Small Point, Maine. A little known fact about Brian is he has completed 11 marathons, including being a seven-time Boston Marathon qualifier. Although Brian’s marathon days are over, he still enjoys exercising regularly and still has a competitive spirit. Brian gives back to his community regularly, but of most importance is his involvement with Special Olympics. From 2011 through 2019 Brian was the Volunteer Head Coach of the Special Olympics Aroostook County Snowdogs basketball team. In 2014, he was named the head basketball coach of the State of Maine’s Special Olympics team that competed in the USA National Games in Princeton, New Jersey. Just ask Brian about his Special Olympian athletes and you will quickly learn of his passion for making a difference in their lives. Being a Massachusetts native, Brian is an avid Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics fan. Brian can be reached at [email protected]
